Ternopil Resident Loses $28,100 in Crypto Investment Scam
A 64-year-old man in Ternopil, Ukraine, fell victim to a sophisticated investment scam, losing $28,100 through a fraudulent platform. The fraudster posed as a broker-analyst, luring the victim with promises of investment training and profits through social media ads.
Between July and October 2025, the victim made multiple transfers to the fake platform before the scammer severed contact and blocked account access. Ukrainian police have opened a fraud case under Article 190 of the Criminal Code, warning investors to verify platforms through official channels and avoid sharing sensitive financial data.
The incident highlights growing concerns about crypto-related fraud as digital assets gain mainstream attention. While no specific cryptocurrencies were involved in this case, law enforcement emphasizes the importance of due diligence when engaging with investment opportunities in the volatile digital asset space.
